WHY less animal products?
Red meat intake is associated with a higher rate of coronary heart disease ( Ref: Harvard Health Professionals study, n= 43,000, BMJ Al-Shaar)
Ultra processed foods are associated with higher all cause mortality. 4 servings a day associated with 62% higher mortality. (Ref: Rico-Campa et al, n=19,899)
Farming practices and land use (75% from animal agriculture) directly release 24% of world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Compare this to 25% of emissions released by global electricity production. (Ref: Foley J. Nature, Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change 2014)
Reducing animal agriculture and increasing plant consumption is important in reducing greenhouse gases and a choice we make 3 times a day to move the needle of climate change. (Lancet editorial Jan. 2019)
